Cauvery Joint Drinking Water Project Pipeline Changed Managing Director of Drinking Water Drainage B

Director of Tamil Nadu Drinking Water Drainage Board Management Dakshinamoorthy and Vellore Collector VR Subbulakshmi inspected the work of replacing the Cauvery Joint Drinking Water Project inflow pipe at the place where the barrage is being built across the river near Poigai.

Vellore Municipal Corporation, Tiruppattur, Jolarpet, Vaniyampadi, Ampur, Ponnampattu, Kudiatham, Melvisaram, Arkadu, Ranipet, Valajapet, Arakkonam, 11 Municipalities, Nataramballi, Udayendram, Alangayam, Odukkattur, Pallikonda, 5 Municipalities and 944 in Vellore District. The Vellore Joint Drinking Water Project is being implemented using the Cauvery River as a source of water to provide protected drinking water to the rural settlements along the way.

As part of the project maintained by the Tamil Nadu Water and Drainage Board, self-flow pipes have been installed on the southern bank of the dam from Vaniyambadi to Ochery. Meanwhile, administrative approval has been given for the construction of a barrage across the river near Poikai village, dam circle, Vellore district.

As 1200 mm diameter MS self-flow pipes have been installed in the Poigai area where this barrage is to be built, the water resources department has instructed to replace these pipes, and the work is being done to replace the new pipes about 150 meters from the shore of the dam so as not to disturb the construction of the barrage. A project estimate of Rs.93.28 lakh has also been prepared and a contract has been requested for this work.

In this case, Board Management Director Dakshinamurthy and Collector V.R. Subbulakshmi examined the replacement of the Cauvery Joint Drinking Water Project pipe at the place where the barrage is being built across the river near Poigai village. Moreover, Director of Water Drainage Board Management Dakshinamurthy instructed the officials to complete these works by the end of December.

Tamil Nadu Water Drainage Board Chief Engineer Arumugam, Supervising Engineer Anbazagan, Executive Engineers Nithyanandam, Tulsiraman, Water Resources Department Executive Engineer Prabhakaran, Vellore Kotaksiyar I. Balasubramanian and others were present during the inspection.
