The Indian School Teachers' Federation has called for the government decree that prevents primary school teachers from being promoted to be repealed.On Thursday, the federation's Vellore district executive committee met in Vellore. The meeting was chaired by A. Joseph Annaiya, the district coordinator. Thirukumaran, president of the federation's education district, K. Gunasekaran, district secretary of the Tamil Nadu Secondary Teachers' Association, and S. Sapitha, treasurer of the Tamil Nadu Primary School Teachers' Alliance, were in attendance.P. Jayaprakash, State Vice President of the Tamil Nadu Postgraduate Teachers Association, welcomed the event. As a special invitee, S.N. Janathanan, state president of the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary School Vocational Education Teachers Association and member of the Indian Executive Committee, spoke about the state initiatives of the organisation. Resolutions passed at the meeting included the immediate repeal of Government Order 243 by the Tamil Nadu government, which denies promotions and preferential treatment to over 90% of primary education teachers, particularly female teachers, and the participation of 150 teachers from the Vellore district in the demands conference scheduled for Madurai on the 15th. Finally, the vote of gratitude was offered by M.S. Selvakumar, the district president of the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary School Graduate Teachers Association.
