Due to climate change, an eye infection known as 'Madras-Eye' is now spreading. In particular, the medical department has said that the problem is more common in children and the elderly.
Madras-eye is a fungal infection of the membrane connecting the eye and lid. Those types of infections can spread through air and pollution. Apart from that, doctors say that the disease can spread to others even if the people affected by 'Madras-I' problem use the used materials.
In this case, reports suggest that 'Madras-I' infection has been spreading significantly in recent times.
Sankara Nethralaya Hospital Medical Sociologist A.P. Irungovel said
'Madras-I' is a very common infection that can be easily cured. However, it should be diagnosed early and treated accordingly. Negligence over time can lead to blurred vision. Eye irritation, redness of the eyelids, watery discharge, and sticking of the lids are the main symptoms of 'Madras-eye'.
Generally, if Madras-eye occurs in one eye, the other eye is more likely to be affected. Therefore, those affected by such damage should be very careful.
It can be seen that the incidence of 'Madras-I' is increasing during the rainy season in many areas including Chennai. He said that it can be prevented if there is vigilance and precaution.
