In the Koyambedu flower market, one kilogram of jasmine flowers cost Rs. 3,000, despite the fact that the cost of all flowers has gone up.Every day, flowers from states like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, as well as districts in Tamil Nadu including Theni, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, and Ramanathapuram, are transported to the Koyambedu flower market to be sold. Due to a decreased supply of flowers brought on by heavy snowfall and other factors, the prices of all kinds of flowers have climbed dramatically in the Koyambedu flower market.
In light of this, a kilogram of jasmine flowers that was previously selling for Rs. 1,800 was now selling for Rs. 3,000, and a kilogram of kanakambaram that was previously selling for Rs. 600 was now selling for Rs. 800. Ice Malli, which was sold for Rs. 1,200, was sold for Rs. 2,000, while a kilogram of Jathi Malli, which was offered for Rs. 500, was sold for Rs. 750.
A kilogram of mulberries, marigolds, panniroja, chocolate roses, sampangi, arali flowers, and dazham flowers were all sold for between Rs. 1,300 and Rs. 1,800, Rs. 60 and Rs. 100, Rs. 80 and Rs. 160, and Rs. 170 to Rs. 200, respectively. a lotus blossom for Rs. 10 to Rs. 20 and up to Rs. 250.
Vendors at the Koyambedu flower market claimed that because of special occasions and the start of the new year, all flower prices have gone up.
