Following the murder of teacher Ramani, the Indian School Teachers Federation has urged that the government should immediately fill the posts of security guards, night guards and office assistants in government schools to ensure the safety of teachers and students.
In this regard, the statement issued by the member of the All India Executive Committee of the Association, Sen. Janardhanan:
The Federation of Indian School Teachers, Federation of All Kinds of Teachers' Unions of Vellore District registers its condemnation of the killing of Ramani, a temporary teacher of Government Higher Secondary School, Mallipatnam, Tanjore district.
Whoever did this should be severely punished. The government should also provide appropriate compensation to the affected families and provide employment to the families.
Due to the situation where anyone can enter government schools and do whatever they want, proper security arrangements should be made.
To overcome this situation, the posts of security guards, night guards, office assistants etc. should be filled immediately in government schools. He said that a special occupational safety law should be enacted to protect teachers and students.
