On Wednesday, traders protested, calling on the central government to remove the 18% GST tax on commercial property rent.
R.P. Gnanavelu, the Federation District President, led the demonstration in front of Anna Kalaiyarangam on behalf of the Vellore district of the Federation of Tamil Nadu Chambers of Commerce and Industry. State Vice President N.V. Krishnan, District Youth Secretary A.C. Arunprasad, and District Secretary AVM Kumar were in attendance. During the protest, the national government levied an 18% GST on the rent that businesses and stores paid. This tax should be removed by the federal government. They displayed slogans highlighting requests such the state government removing the 6% tax and passing a corporate business statute that impacts Indian businesspeople and safeguards domestic retail establishments.establishing a standard waste tax throughout the state, eliminating the increases in company license fees and industrial tax, and imposing an additional property tax levy each year. The demonstration was attended by traders and administrators from different trade associations throughout the district.
