After failing to recuperate from his illness, renowned tabla musician Zakir Hussain passed away in a U.S. hospital on Monday, according to his family.
At 4 p.m. San Francisco time, Zakir Hussain died quietly, according to his sister Khurshid Alia.
Last night, it was announced that Hussain had died in critical care. His family, however, refuted the allegation. He passed away without receiving any medical attention within the next few hours, according to the family's later announcement.
The music industry is deeply saddened by Zakir Hussain's passing.
