Meta AI rolling out in India, few days after Google introduced Gemini

Meta has recently introduced its artificial intelligence in India, Meta AI. It will be available in English across the company's apps - WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. However, it looks like the roll-out is scheduled in a phase manner.

Meta has recently announced that its artificial intelligence, Meta AI is rolling out and will be available to use for all Indian users. Meta AI will be available in English across the company's apps - WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Meta AI has entered India after months of unveiling it. The Facebook parent company made it available in countries like Australia, Canada and New Zealand over two months ago. The move also comes after Google’s Gemini was introduced in India a week ago.

Similar to the other AI assistants, Meta AI will be able to handle the daily tasks like writing emails, summarising texts, translations, etc. While it has been announced that the Meta AI will be available from today onwards, it seems like it is a gradual roll-out. Even the main website of Meta AI flashes the message, “Meta AI isn’t available yet in your country.

This might be an indication that the AI assistant may be rolling out to users in a phased manner. The chatbot has rolled out in more than 12 countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

As mentioned, Meta AI will be accessible across all Meta platforms, including Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram. After the proper roll-out, the users will also be able to use the AI assistant through its website.

The main aim of Meta AI is to make the tasks easier for its users. The user can interact directly with the chatbot, which is a general-purpose assistant capable of answering questions and providing real-time information powered by Google and Microsoft's Bing. They can also generate text and images, summarise long pieces of text and do writing tasks.

Meta AI gives the user the liberty to use the assistant in their existing personal and group chats on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger to get advice or ask questions. Meta AI’s latest image generation technology helps users take their creativity a step ahead. The program can also be used to create animations.

Additionally, Meta AI has been integrated into the search bar of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. For Facebook users, Meta AI can be accessed while scrolling through the app's main feed.

Google Gemini

Before Meta set its foot in the Indian domain, Google introduced its AI assistant – the Gemini mobile app in India. The app is available on PlayStore with access to multiple languages, including English and nine Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

According to Google, the Gemini app's support for multiple Indian languages aims to cater to the diverse linguistic landscape of India. This expansion also ensures broader accessibility, allowing users to complete various tasks such as planning events, creating recipes, and writing social media captions. Users can interact with Gemini by typing, talking, or adding images.
